8. Is learning Pas De Deux from DVD’s dangerous?

9. How does the quality of the instruction on these DVD’s compare to the “world class” dance schools?

For those individuals that are already skilled in Pas De Deux and simply want to add additional techniques and choreography to their repertoire, they may find it useful to purchase only a single disk out of the series. Consequently the option to buy disks individually has been provided. However, we believe that even the most talented dancers will find every disk of the series to be helpful to them in some way and that is why the entire set is priced such that all five disks can be purchased for only half of what it would cost to buy them all separately.

2. Does the Academy sponsor master classes, workshops or seminars?

At this time the main focus of the Academy is to promote the DVD Series to get it into the hands of everyone that has an interest in this art form. Consequently there currently are no such classes, workshops or seminars scheduled at this time. However, if someone has a specific request that they would like to make, Sean will give serious consideration to any such requests.

3. Are "Apprentice" students allowed to buy additional "Apprentice" and "Graduate" patches?

Yes, any registered owner of the Pas De Deux Video Series can order additional “Apprentice” patches to be attached to their dance bags, jackets, etc. Furthermore, any graduate of the Academy can purchase additional “Graduate” patches for the same reasons. However, any Graduate caught purchasing additional “Graduate” patches for the purpose of providing those patches to non-graduates will be permanently removed from the Graduate registry.

4. Can graduation from the Academy be included on my Resume?

Yes, the Academy would strongly encourage graduates to include details of their experiences with the Academy on their resume and are welcome to direct any would be employer to your bio page on our site which will contain video clips of you demonstrating your skills.

5. Can I get any college credit or other "Continuing Education Credits" for graduating from the Academy?

It has been suggested that arrangements could be made for the Academy to work in conjunction with one or more accredited colleges to provide college credit for graduation from the Academy much the same way as such credits can be earned for some workshops, camps or other off-campus learning experiences. The Academy is looking into this at this time and hopes to be able to offer such credit to our graduates very soon.

6. Are pointe shoes required -or are you required to be on pointe to do pas-de-deux?

While clearly it has traditionally been the most skilled dancers that have aspired to learn the art of Pas De Deux and in the world of ballet the most skilled dancers are typically on pointe, it is absolutely NOT necessary to be on pointe to learn Pas De Deux.
For those that are new to pointe it would be best to learn Pas De Deux in flat ballet shoes until the dancer is strong enough to avoid injury. Anyone uncertain about their pointe abilities should ask a qualified instructor for their opinion.

7. Are talent scouts or casting directors allowed to post casting calls on the Academy’s Forum?

Yes, our objective is to become an invaluable resource to the dance community and the bringing together of talented dancers with those that are in need of their skills is one way that the Academy can reach that objective. However, all dancers will be cautioned that the Academy in no way endorses or approves of any listing on the forum and that they must use extreme prudence in evaluating any such offer.

8. Is learning Pas De Deux from DVD’s dangerous?

The DVD’s go to great lengths to make sure safety is always the first consideration and much of the 1st disk is floor work that isn’t any more dangerous then a regular pointe class. When it is time to do the lifts the DVD’s advise to make sure that there are adequate spotters and provide other safety tips.. Of course in a perfect world dance studios will, either on their own, or at the urging of their students, use these DVD’s as part of their classroom curriculum so that all possible safety mechanisms can be put in place.

9. How does the quality of the instruction on these DVD’s compare to the “world class” dance schools?

Clearly, it would be wonderful if everyone had the opportunity to study Pas De Deux at one of the world class schools or academies. Unfortunately however, except for those special few that get those opportunities, the rest of us that want to learn Pas De Deux have to look elsewhere. In America there are a few very fine studios scattered across the country that provide excellent Pas De Deux instruction but by far the majority of the dance students in this country have no access whatsoever to such instruction and currently, with the exception of the 5 disk set being offered on this website, there is no other comprehensive training program available to provide that instruction Mr. Cronin has spent his life learning and perfecting the techniques that he teaches. Admittedly he was not schooled at any of the world class academies but decades of experience and learning are clearly evident in his lessons. We are very confident that you will find the quality of instruction on these disks on par or better than what could be presented by any other Pas De Deux master still alive today.
